The portrait was made less than three months after Winehouse won five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Record of the Year for Rehab. Unable to attend the Los Angeles ceremony, she performed by satellite from London.
That Grammy success brought another international peak for Back to Black, the album that established Winehouse as one of the most distinctive British vocalists of her generation.
