On 31 October 2001, Westlife were photographed at BAFTA in Piccadilly, London, for the launch of their third album, World of Our Own. Twenty-five years later, this selection brings together a group photograph and individual portraits of the five members: Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Brian McFadden and Nicky Byrne.
The group pose against a backdrop bearing the Westlife name. Leather jackets, pale blue shirts and dark trousers run through the line-up, while Feehily wears tinted glasses. The photograph records the five-piece band during the promotion of their 2001 album.
The individual portraits bring the selection closer: Filan smiles in a dark jacket, Egan wears a dark shirt beneath highlighted hair, and Feehily is photographed in his glasses and brown leather jacket. McFadden and Byrne appear in blue shirts, with people visible behind them.
The original archive captions identify the occasion as the World of Our Own launch at BAFTA and give the date as 31 October 2001. These are photographs of the launch event; the album’s release followed in November. All six photographs are credited to Big Pictures Archive.
