Reese Witherspoon was photographed leaving Club Monaco in Beverly Hills after shopping on 30 August 2005. The archive record says she paused for photographs with fans outside the store. She wore a patterned blue top, jeans and sunglasses and carried a shoulder bag.

The outing came days before Walk the Line premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on 4 September 2005. Witherspoon played June Carter opposite Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash in the film, which was produced by Fox 2000 Pictures and released in the United States by 20th Century Fox on 18 November 2005.

The role would become one of Witherspoon's most acclaimed performances. By then she was already an established box-office draw: Legally Blonde, released in 2001, had earned about $96 million in the United States and more than $140 million worldwide.
